She is a children’s teaching leader for the St. Joseph Bible Study Fellowship, and she is a member of The Chapel in St. Joseph and is co-founder and leader of the Former Adventist Fellowship launched there in 2009.

It is a joy reading your story of how God open your eyes. I am praying for you. If your would like to come to Jamaica and witness to Adventist let me know. I will be movin home(jamaica) in June 2010. You dont have to worry about meal or a place to stay. I am qiuting my job to go and preach. there is a great number of adventist in the area i live. I am always showing them Christ. They always say show them an ExAdventist in person who left. May God lead and bless you. Stand bold for the cross of Jesus Only.

Greetings! I am David Hor, member of the Milpitas SDA Church. It has been many years since you left Milpitas and I wondered exactly where you were all these years. I knew you went to Northern California Conference but don’t know exactly where. In your life’s journey you passed through Milpitas, Foothill Elementary School to be exact.
I read your story in Proclamation. I am saddened to learn of your experience at Andrews University.
In your present understanding of the Bible truths I wonder what understanding of Paul’s writing on the subject of Faith, Law, and Grace in Romans. You can respond to david-hor@comcast.net.

I found the link to your blog this morning because God knew that this is just what I needed. As I am now viewing myself as a “former” I have still been struggling with the “truth” and needing to be sure that I really now have the “truth”! It helps me to hear your testimony and know that you felt this way also! So I just wanted to say Thank You!! I am also curious about your duel names? 🙂

Thank you for the encouragement. The dual names 🙂 … I guess I feel like God has given me a “new” life and just like Abram was changed to Abraham and Sarah’s name was also changed … I, too, wanted something symbolic like that. Honestly, I go by Carolyn and haven’t done any legal action to change my name … most people call me Carolyn .. though a few write to me as Keri. I respond to both. Someday I hope to “officially” change my name.
Truth is big. I always thought I had the “truth” as an Adventist – at least the closest thing to truth I could find. Now I have “Truth”/Jesus Christ living in me – I am sealed for the day of redemption by the indwelling Holy Spirit. Truth is not something — out there — it is something living in me. Do I still sin? Absolutely … But my life is hid in Christ – Who is my righteousness. Do I desire to sin? Not usually – for Christ – Who lives in me has changed my desires. Adventists always accuse me of being “lawless” … but that is the farthest thing from my mind …
Anyways, … guess I got on my hobby horse 🙂

Thank you so much for your reply! I wish that I lived closer to St. Joe so that I could come to your church! Transitioning away from the SDA church is very difficult especially when you have had a lifetime of indoctrination. I also worry about hurting my loved ones that I really just want to save!
My Dad still teaches at AU and does not know about my new convictions. (I guess if your blog is “monitored” he may know soon!) Just knowing that others truly understand how I am feeling helps so much.

Thank you for posting! It has been awhile since I have blogged and it is nice to know that others are still looking at it even though I’m not posting.
Here is my concern. Jesus is indeed Who it is all about. You are so correct. The issue is not about friendship though, but about salvation. Jesus came to save and it is only through the blood of the Lamb Who made atonement for us that we may be saved. You see Adventism swings between a works related religion, or a relationship religion and never fully deals with the sin issue. Jesus is our Savior, because as Romans 3 and Ephesians 2 indicates we are all born dead – meaning apart from God. Dead people can’t do anything – including have a relationship with a Holy God. When we repent of our sin – meaning agree that we are apart from God and desperately wicked and turn to Christ asking for His forgiveness and to become Lord in our lives – we are saved.
And “your church” is more than the PMC church in Berrien Springs. Your church is built of many churches and many people. The Adventist faith and doctrines are built on the foundation of Ellen White’s writings and twisting scripture to mean something different than the context in which the scripture is written.
May I recommend that all those reading this blog read the CONTEXT in which an SDA minister uses scripture. Read the chapter before and after … Read who wrote the book and why …
I am familiar with Lee Venden and listened to him when I was an Adventist … He has many good stories and is a wonderful speaker … but we cannot miss the very important part that Jesus came to save us … Jesus is fully God (Which Adventist theology does not indorse – they say Jesus took on sinful nature – which would make Him inadequate to be our perfect sacrifice for our sin. This is why the lamb in the old testament was to be without blemish …
Again, I pray that the Adventist church which is made up of many members would repent of it’s wrong doctrines and denial of Jesus as the all-sufficient sacrifice for our sin and fully turn to the Biblical Jesus of the Bible.
